FFEU Season of Twinning event at the Third Annual Interfaith Commemoration of the mass shooting at Quebec City Mosque.

As part of the FFEU’s Season of Twinning, the Third Annual Interfaith Commemoration of the mass shooting at Quebec City Mosque was hosted by Concordia Student Union and Center for Research-Action on Race Relations (CRARR), in partnership with the Institute for Research and Education on Race Relations (IRERR), Concordia University Aboriginal Student Resource Center, the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies, and Concordia Multi-faith & Spirituality Centre.

Key speakers included: Holocaust survivor Fishel Goldig (Musée de l’Holocauste Montréal), Rwandan Genocide survivor Jacques Rwirangira (Page Rwanda), Muslim Awareness Week rep Samaa Elibyari, Rev. Ellie Hummel (Concordia Chaplain) and Indigenous Elder Vicky Boldo, all of whom spoke of the different faces of hate and genocide, and the need to stand together in solidarity for common humanity.

FFEU Season of Twinning event with Muslim World League in Ukraine

Earlier today, the Mufti of Crimea Ayder Rustemov, Chairman of the Union of Jewish Religious Organizations of Ukraine Pavel Feldblyum, Assistant to the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Gennady Beloritsky and head of the Kyiv Yeshiva Yitzhak Erekhman met to discuss interreligious dialogue and participation in Ukraine. The meeting was part of the FFEU’s Season of Twinning in partnership with the Muslim World League

Season of Twinning Interfaith peace event with the Muslim World League in Bosnia Herzegovina

On December 20, the cantor of JC Saravejo synagogue accompanied a board member of the synagogue to the Gazi Husrev Bey mosque for evening prayer. They later joined members of the Islamic community of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Grand Mufti for Shabbat services in the synagogue. President of the Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jacob Finci and Grand Mufti Husein Kavazovic, spoke about the importance of interfaith peace to the nearly 50 participants of the event, as part of the FFEU’s Season of Twinning with the Muslim World League.

FFEU supported event with Votim Demiri and the Jewish Community of Kosovo

On December 28, with the FFEU’s support, Votim Demiri and the Jewish Community of Kosovo hosted its second annual Muslim-Jewish celebration of Chanukah in Prizren. Speakers at the event included Chairman Artan Abrashi and Mr. Irgan Daullxhiu, both representing the local Muslim community of Prizren. They expressed that the interfaith celebration is a reflection of the harmony in the city, and agreed to host an interfaith conference this coming summer with Mr. Demiri.

Commemorative memorial service of the 23rd Azerbaijan infantry division

On November 24, a memorial service of the 223rd Azerbaijani infantry division was held in Mozdok, Russia as part of the FFEU’s Season of Twinning in partnership with the Muslim World League. The infantry is remembered for its members who were mostly ethnic Azerbaijanis and Jews, and stopped the Nazis from invading Azerbaijan in 1941. ATSM hosts seminar with the Ministry of Religious Affairs on the establishment of a culture of peace and coexistence

Last week, L’Association Tunisienne de Soutien des Minorités (The Tunisian Association for the Support of Minorities) organized a seminar in collaboration with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, as part of the FFEU’s Season of Twinning with the Muslim World League. The seminar reflected on the establishment of a culture of peace and coexistence from a theological perspective. Among the keynote speakers: Yamina Thabet, president of the Tunisian Association for the Support of Minorities; Daniel Cohen, Rabbi de la Goulette and director of the Jewish school in Tunis; H.E. Othman Battikh, Mufti of the Tunisian Republic; and H.E. Ilario Antoniazzi, Archbishop of Tunisia. Check out the photos below #Twinning2019

First-ever Twinning event on the Ivory Coast led by Marc Aba Bechou and Kone Aboubacar Siriki

Last week, ONG Afrique-Israel, led by Marc Aba Bechou and Kone Aboubacar Siriki, hosted the first-ever Twinning event on the Ivory Coast. Imam Issouf Doumbia of the Mosquee Salam du Plateau in Abidjan met with Rabbi Yerah Bensaid, Director of Chabad Ivory Coast, as part of the Season of Twinning in partnership with the Muslim World League. LEA and the Council of Jewish Women in Georgia held a series of interfaith events in Tbilisi

FFEU partner Foundation LEA and the Council of Jewish Women in Georgia organized a series of interfaith events representing the religious and cultural diversity of Georgia for the Season of Twinning with the Muslim World League. On Nov. 27, participants from many different ethnic and religious backgrounds gathered in Tbilisi for a discussion about restitution of religious property from the Soviet era. Then, on Dec. 3, a second event was held to showcase religious traditions of Jews, Muslims and Christians in the regions. Check out the photos below #Twinning2019

FFEU Season of Twinning event in partnership with the Muslim World League in Mexico

On November 29, Sheikh Said Louahabi, President of the Muslim Community Educational Center of Mexico joined Hazan Ari Litvak of Communidad Betel synagogue and other faith leaders to speak at a summit hosted by Qualfon Mexico, a company celebrating its 25th anniversary. The event was held at the Bankers Club of Mexico’s Summit.

In the spirit of the FFEU’s Season of Twinning in partnership with the Muslim World League, Sheikh Louahabi and Hazan Litvak offered a prayer for the event and spoke about Muslim-Jewish friendship and the importance of inclusiveness in society, especially in the business world. #Twinning2019
