JSpaceCanada held a discussion series on Antisemitism and Islamophobia: Taking Action Against Hate

As part of the The Foundation For Ethnic Understanding-FFEU Season of Twinning with the Muslim World League, a wonderful event was hosted in Toronto, Canada by JSpaceCanada on November 19. A full house turned out at the Imdadul Islamic Centre for a session on building allies in the struggle antisemitism and islamophopia. FFEU was also proud to have representatives from the National Council of Canadian Muslims, the Khadijah Centre and the Canadian Association of Jews and Muslims. Meeting between the Jewish and Muslim communities in Tanzania

The Foundation For Ethnic Understanding-FFEU was proud to facilitate an important meeting between the Jewish and Muslim communities in Tanzania. The participants discussed how they can protect themselves from discrimination, and how they can create more joint efforts to bolster their communities. Rabbi Peres Parpaih (Yehudah Amir Kahalani) and Imam Issa Abdhulhakim reflected on the gathering, stating that “There are so many faith similarities between Muslims and Jews…we have concluded that we are truly cousins, children of the same Father.” #Twinning2019

Parade and Celebration of the Birth of the Prophet Mohammed in Sacramento, California

This past Sunday, more than 300 people attended the parade and celebration of the birth of the prophet Mohammed in front of the California State Capitol building in Sacramento. The event was organized by Mahomed Khan, head of Starpower Offering Peace & Prosperity, with FFEU support. Mahomed Khan conveyed a message from Rabbi Marc Schneier about the importance of Muslim and Jewish twinning events. A letter from Congressman Brad Sherman was read in support of the celebration. The letter thanked Mahomed Khan for continuing to bring together Jewish, Muslim and other communities of faith. The keynote presenter was Qari Syed Saddaqat Ali, a world renowned Quran reciter who has millions of followers around the world #Twinning2019

Feeding the Hungry in New York City

On Sunday Nov. 17, 2019, The Foundation For Ethnic Understanding-FFEU hosted its second annual Feeding the Hungry event at The Brotherhood Synagogue, in partnership with Muslims Against Hunger and the NY Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee. Muslim and Jewish volunteers packed 6,200 meals for the needy.

FFEU Executive Director Chris Sacarabany, Brotherhood synagogue Rabbi Daniel Alder, Muslim Against Hunger Founder Zamir Hassan, Bronx Islamic Cultural Center Head Sheikh Musa Drammeh, Bob Wolf of Brotherhood Synagogue, Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee Trustee Sabeeha Rehman introduced the program.

NYU Students and members of the Peace Islands Institute also attended the program and volunteered.

After the event, 5,000 meals were brought to St Nicholas of Myra Orthodox Church for distribution. #Twinning2019 Muslim World League

Rabbi Israel Uzan and Imam Abdulkareem Shefiu Majemu at the Human Right Radio Station and visit to the Habibiyyah Mosque in Nigeria

On November 15, 2019, Rabbi Israel Uzan and Imam Abdulkareem Shefiu Majemu were hosted by the Human Right Radio Station in Abuja, Nigeria to discuss interfaith cooperation, followed by a visit to the Habibiyyah Mosque, Guzape, Asokoro, Abuja. The event was part of The Foundation For Ethnic Understanding-FFEU’s Season of Twinning in partnership with the Muslim World League #Twinning2019

 

Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester Interfaith Dinner in Prestwich, UK

As the Season of Twinning continues, we thank one of our UK partners, The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester, for holding another twinning event on January 13th, 2019. The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester’s members and friends gathered in Prestwich to enjoy their annual kosher meal out together. The event’s guest of honor was Mayor of Bury, Cllr Jane Black, who is the 8’th Jewish Mayor of Bury, together with her husband and official consort Mark Sankey.

Online Training on Racism and Anti-Semitism in Paris

On December 4th, 2018, Espoir 18, launched their online training on racism and Anti-Semitism in Paris. The event, supported by The Foundation for Ethnic Understanding during the #SeasonofTwinning2018, gathered a hundred young Parisians and representatives of French organizations. The training program is led by Espoir18 Director Jerome Disle and D’ailleurs et d’ici Director Marc Cheb Sun.

Earlier this year, a delegation of Espoir18 met with various US organizations fighting racism and bigotry, including FFEU Executive Director Chris Sacarabany, FFEU friends, Wise Founder Daisy Khan and New York Muslim Jewish Solidarity Committee Executive Director Michelle Koch, in New York and Washington, DC.

Season of Twinning Conference in Florence, Italy

FFEU partner, the Florence School of Dialogue (FSD) led by FSD President Rabbi Joseph Levi, organized in Florence, Italy, on the occasion of the Season of Twinning, a conference titled “The Right of Places of Worship in the World”, held on the 29th November 2018.  Among the keynote speakers joining Rabbi Levi were Yassine Lafram, President of the Union of Islamic Communities in Italy and Mgr Andrea Bellandi, Vicar general of the Archdiocese of Florence.

 

Season of Twinning panel discussion in Canada

On November 28, 2018, FFEU partners in Canada, JspaceCanada and the Canadian Association of Jews and Muslims organized a #SeasonofTwinning2018 at the Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto. JspaceCanada and CAJM hosted representatives from Wahat al-Salam – Neve Shalom for a panel discussion about their  educational work for peace and cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians.
